
No. 12/14 Swimming and Diving Complete Day 3 Prelims

Finals begin at 3 p.m.
The No. 12/14 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming team fared well in the Day 3 prelims with 15 NCAA B-cuts.
In the women's 200 yard backstroke, Alina Kendzior (1:57.14) touched first and Ashley Leclair (1:58.06) touched second, both posting NCAA B-cut times. Kenzie Buss went for 2:03.83 to finish fifth in the meet. All three of the Cardinals qualified for the A-final.
In the men's 200 yard backstroke, Grigory Tarasevich touched for a pool and meet record time posting a time of 1:40.89 which was also a NCAA B-cut time. Aaron Greene was also under the meet record time, posting a B-cut time of 1:43.26. Nolan Tesone went for a B-cut time of 1:44.12 to finish third. Ryan Massey (1:48.16), Nick Hasemann (1:48.52), and Jacob DeMercurio (1:49.37) touched fourth, fifth, and seventh respectively. All six Cardinals qualified for the A-final.
In the women's 100 yard freestyle, Andrea Kneppers (49.07), Mallory Comerford (49.37) both finished with B-cut times and qualified for the A-final. Alex Sellers (50.69) and Grace Long (52.14) also qualified for the A-final. Maggie Patterson posted a time of 53.36 to qualify for the B-final.
The Louisville Cardinals had seven swimmers qualify for the men's 100 yard freestyle A-final. Lead by Trevor Carroll posting a meet record and B-cut time of 43.11 finished first, followed by Pedro Coutinho (44.10) finished second and Max Grodecki (44.24) finished third as they both posted a B-cut time. Christian Garkani (44.32), Jonathan Zoucha (44.59), Matyi Kovacs (45.01), and Ruben Izarra (45.15) all rounded out the A-final qualifiers for Louisville. Abel Aulbach (45.47), Estefan Albiero (45.68), Jacob DeMercurio (46.69), and Clayton Helsley (46.70) all qualified for the B-final as Matthias Lindenbauer (52.02) qualified for the C-final.
In the women's 200 yard breaststroke, Andrea Cottrell (2:11.37) finished first posting a meet record and a NCAA B-cut time. Rachael Bradford-Feldman also finished under the meet record, posting a B-cut time of 2:13.12. Manuela Sampaio (2:17.73), Lucy Kramer (2:18.75), and Lauren James (2:18.96) all posted qualifying times for the A-final. Emily Sarratt (2:22.39) and Caitlin Ahern (2:22.90) touched in for the B-final.
Carlos Claverie posted a B-cut time of 1:59.24 finishing first in the men's 200 yard breaststroke, followed by Brennen Berger (2:00.14), Todd Owen (2:00.84), and Dexter Thomas (2:01.31) rounded out the four Cardinals qualifying for the A-final.
In the women's 200 yard butterfly, Abbie Houck posted a NCAA B-cut time of 1:58.77 to finish first, while Marah Pugh (1:59.89) touched second and Devon Bibault (2:01.70) touched fourth to make three Cardinals qualifying for the A-final. Paige Ezell went for 2:10.24 to qualify for the C-final.
In the men's 200 yard butterfly, Josh Quallen posted a meet record and B-cut time of 1:47.11. Zach Harting (1:48.03) touched second and David Boland (1:48.64) both finished under the meet record as well. Jack Schultz went for 1:52.40, giving the Cardinals four swimmers in the A-final.
