Louisville Team Notes
- The loss snaps Louisville's seven-game win streak over Indiana, with IU's last victory over the Cards coming on May 9, 2007. U of L had outscored the Hoosiers 65-32 during the streak.
- The Cardinals had also won their past four home games versus Indiana.
- IU now leads the all-time series by a 19-17 count.
- U of L lost to a Big Ten team for only the fourth time in 27 games against the conference under Dan McDonnell. The Cards had won 11 straight over Big Ten foes prior to the loss to Purdue on March 8.
- Louisville has lost six straight contests for the first time since dropping seven in a row from May 25, 2005-Feb. 22, 2006. The six-game losing streak is Louisville's longest within one season since a six-gamer from April 21-30, 2004.
- The Cards have not ended on the losing side of the scoreboard seven consecutive times in one season since dropping 12 straight games during the 1996 campaign (April 6-27).
- Longest losing streaks, since 1996
1. 12 - 4.6.96-4.27.96
2. 7 - 5.25.05-2.22.06
3. 6 - 4.10.11-Present

3. 6 - 4.2.00-4.12.00
3. 6 - 2.25.00-3.4.00
3. 6 - 5.4.97-5.13.97
- U of L has dropped back-to-back home games for the third time this season, the first time Louisville has had three separate home losing streaks of 2+ games in one year since 2006 (three).
- Louisville has not lost three consecutive home games in one season since 2006 (four straight from April 19-26).
- The Cardinals' eight home losses are their most since losing 10 times at home in 2008 (to 25 wins).
- When the Cards held the Hoosiers off the scoreboard for the first three innings, it marked just the fourth time in the past 22 games Louisville held the opposition scoreless through three. In nearly half (six of 13) of the games in which that has happened this year, the Cards have gone on to complete the shutout.
- The Cardinals committed multiple errors (two) for the sixth straight game, the longest stretch for Louisville in the last 11 seasons. Louisville had previously registered 2+ errors in as many as four straight games just four times over that span.
- Consecutive games with 2+ errors, since 2001
1. 6 - 4.10.11-Present (2-2-5-5-2-2)
2. 5 - 4.26.09-5.5.09 (2-3-2-2-2)

4. 4 - 3.27.02-3.31.02 (2-2-4-2)
- Louisville's 18 errors over that span are its most in a six-game stretch in the last 11 years, topping the old mark of 14 (from May 16-24, 2003).
- The Cards surrendered a pair of long balls for the second straight game, the first time they have allowed multiple home runs in consecutive games since May 11-14 of last year (two at Vandy, four at home against St. John's).
- U of L saw its starting pitcher yield two earned runs or fewer for the 28th time in 36 games this season.
- Louisville was outscored (5-3) after the fourth inning for the third consecutive game, but for just the fifth time in 36 games overall this season. The Cards have scored over twice as many runs as their opponents (104 to 51) this season from the fifth inning on.
- The Cardinals gave up three sixth-inning runs on Tuesday after allowing just four runs in that inning all season coming in.
- Of the Hoosiers' seven hits on the day, four came with two strikes, including both (single and home run) during the three-run sixth.
- Louisville drops to 4-6 this season when surrendering at least one homer.
Louisville Player Notes
- Freshman righty Jeff Thompson continued his dominance both at Jim Patterson Stadium and as a starter, lowering his 2011 ERAs in those situations to 0.52 and 0.60, respectively, with 3.0 shutout innings.

- Thompson has not allowed an earned run in his last 10.0 innings of work at home.
- Fellow freshman Chad Green, meanwhile, extended his perfect run at home--no runs allowed--to 11.2 innings before Alex Dickerson's three-run homer off of reliever Joe Stilphen in the sixth permitted the two runners Green left on base to score. Green still has a 0.77 ERA at home for his career.

- When right fielder Matt Serfling singled through the right side to lead off the sixth, he ended an 0-for-15 string for opposing hitters against Green at Jim Patterson Stadium. Green had not allowed a hit at home since March 6, a span of 5.0 innings.
- Green had induced six consecutive fly ball outs--five to center fielder Cole Sturgeon--before the base hit.
- The dinger surrendered by Stilphen marked the first run allowed by the lefty specialist since May 5, 2009, against Ohio State (five runs, two earned). Stilphen had put together seven straight scoreless outings entering the game, albeit covering only 3.1 innings.
- Stilphen has yielded a run in just two of his 15 career outings.
- Freshman backstop Kyle Gibson smacked his first career extra-base hit on Tuesday, a double to right-center in the second. The hit was Gibson's third in a span of five plate appearances dating back to his Saturday start against St. John's.
- Senior Gabriel Shaw made his 97th career pitching appearance in the game, tying him for second on the Louisville all-time list. He is four shy of the school record of 101, set by Gavin Logsdon two seasons ago.
- Career pitching appearances, Louisville history
1. 101 - Gavin Logsdon (2006-09)
2. 97 - Gabriel Shaw (2008-Present)
2. 97 - Brian Halford (2003-06)
4. 96 - Griffin Bailey (2003-06)
5. 81 - Carlos Fernandez (2000-03)
- Sophomore Cade Stallings is now 6-for-13 (.462) with two walks and no strikeouts in his last 15 trips to the dish after doubling home a run in two times up on Tuesday.
- Freshman Ty Young picked up a hit for the 14th time in his last 18 games after hitting safely in just three of his first 15 contests. Young has raised his batting average from .179 to .253 over that stretch.
- Young's double was his third in a span of four games. The last Cardinal rookie to register a double in three separate games of a four-game stretch was Ryan Wright in 2009 (Feb. 21-27).
- After a 2-for-4 day, junior Stewart Ijames has six hits in his last 10 at bats (.600) and eight in his past 17 (.471).
- Right-hander Andy Flett has not allowed an earned run over his last 5.2 innings of work dating back to March 18. Opponents are just 2-for-19 (.105) against Flett over that span.
- Senior J.J. Ethel's pinch-hit walk in the eighth gave him his first base on balls since March 27, a span of 36 plate appearances.
- Junior Ryan Wright's multi-hit game was his 14th this season and the 67th of his career. Wright (222 career hits) needs 23 more base knocks to reach the Louisville career top 10.
