
Cards Bow Out of ACC Championship in Opening Round

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Louisville baseball team lost 16-8 to Pitt in the opening round of the 2026 ACC Championship on Tuesday night in Charlotte, N.C.
The loss ends the season for the Cardinals, who finish the season 30-27 overall.
Pitt (31-23) jumped on the Cards immediately Tuesday night, taking a 5-0 lead just five batters into the game.
The Cardinals didn't score in the first but responded with a five-spot of their own in the second.
Alex Alicea legged out an infield single with the bases loaded to plate the opening run. Zion Rose laced a single through the hole to score a second run and a fielder's choice from Griffin Crain cut the margin to 5-3.
Tague Davis singled into right field to make it a one-run game and Bayram Hot put a ball in play to drive in the tying run.
Both sides went quietly in the third before the Panthers moved back in front for good with six runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth.
Davis tallied his second RBI of the night on a groundout in the seventh. Rose later drove home two with a single in the eighth.
Rose had a 3-for-5 night with three driven in, giving him multiple hits in 14 of the final 18 games. Alicea and Moore added two hits as well.
Davis was 1-for-5 with two RBIs, closing out his outstanding season with a .355 average, 34 home runs and 98 RBIs.
