Cards Close Regular Season With 10-5 Win over Virginia

Louisville wrapped up the regular season at 30-26 overall and 13-17 in ACC play. The Cardinals will play in the opening round of the ACC Championship on Tuesday at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C. The seeding, opponent and time are still to be determined.
The Cardinals jumped on the board early for the second consecutive day.
Zion Rose doubled on the first pitch of the game before moving to second on a groundout. Tague Davis then drove him home with a sacrifice fly to give the Cards the early edge.
Virginia (35-20, 14-16 ACC) loaded the bases with one out in the second. Casen Murphy was called upon out of the bullpen and immediately induced a double play to end the threat.
The Cards used the momentum to plate two more in the bottom of the second. Lucas Moore drove home Kade Elam and then scored on a groundout from Alex Alicea.
Louisville kept the Cavaliers off the scoreboard for the first seven innings, while using a pair of homers in the fifth and sixth stretched the margin to seven.
Bayram Hot hit a solo homer in the fifth, part of a huge performance on Senior Day. Rose then launched a three-run homer in the sixth to make it a 7-0 game.
Virginia got back in the game with a five-run eighth, but the Cards put three back on the board in their half. Moore hit a leadoff homer before Davis and Hot added RBIs.
Aaron England slammed the door shut with two shutout innings for his fifth save. Murphy (1-2) earned the win with 2.2 scoreless out of the bullpen. Jack Brown and Jake Schweitzer tossed a scoreless inning each, while Anthony Karbowski retired all six batters he faced.
Hot was 4-for-4 with a double and homer and two RBIs. Rose finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Moore was a perfect 3-for-3 with the homer and three runs scored.
