Cards Complete Day 1 Prelims at Louisville First Chance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville swimming and diving team completed the first preliminary session of the Louisville First Chance Meet, which is designed for swimmers to improve or make their qualifying times for the upcoming championship season. Â Finals are slated to begin at 5 p.m.

Highlights from the morning session include Gustavo Saldo's 1:33.90 in the 200 free time trial and Guy Brooks' meet record in the 100 freestyle.

In the 200 IM, Kim Herkle posted a time of 1:57.49 for the win, followed by Fernanda Celidonio's 1:57.96. Tristen Ulett was third in 1:59.03 and Rye Ulett was next with a time of 1:59.31.  On the men's side, Drew Collins won with a time of 1:47.95, Kelly Jordan was second (1:50.29) and Ryan Hogan was third in 1:52.96.

Paige Kuwata took top honors in the 500 free with a time of 4:51.20 and Maddie Luther was second in 4:54.14. Kayden Lancaster won the 500 free with a 4:26.33 and John Bossler was second in 4:30.77.

In the 100 breaststroke, Adry Kasemets boarded a 1:03.03 for the women and Grant Gooding won for the men with a 53.37. Kelly Jordan went 55.45 and Robert Ehrenborg was third in 56.67.

In the 200 back, Lucy Mehraban put up a 2:27.27 for the win. Abby Karl was second in 2:29.07 and Krista Wheeler went 2:36.07. On the men's side, Mateo Miceli was first with a 1:45.61, Drew Collins was second in 1:45.78 and Ryan Hogan was third in 1:52.02.

In the 100 freestyle, Louisville's Bianca Costea went 49.26 to beat UK's Lily DeLong's 51.35. For the men, Guy Brooks was first with a 42.83 for a meet record. Murilo Sartori was second in 43.11 and Caleb Duncan was third in 43.76. Owen Taylor put up a 44.27. Â
