Cardinals Send 14 to Finals after Day 4 Prelims at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- University of Louisville will send 13 swimmers and one diver into the finals after the Day 4 preliminaries at the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Five of those finalists will vie for a spot on the podium in the A-finals.

In the 200 butterfly, Abby Hay was the top qualifier, clocking a 1:54.61. Joining her in the A-final will be teammate Tristen Ulett, who went 1:57.11. Jordan Durocher went 2:02.65 in her preliminary heat.

For the men, Gustavo Saldo leads the 200 butterfly corps with an A-final time of 1:44.49. Tommy Bried (1:44.58) and Denis Loktev (1:44.57) will swim in the B-final and freshman Jacob Pishko held on to a slot in the C-final with a time of 1:46.07.

In the 100 backstroke, Paige Hetrick will represent the Ville in the B-final after boarding a 52.54. Dalton Lowe will swim in the men's A-final after a 46.10 preliminary time and will be joined by Charlie Crush who will swim in the C-final with a prelim time of 47.09.

In the 100 breaststroke, Cecilia Viberg (1:00.29) and Ella Welch (1:00.51) will both compete in the B-final. Â For the men, Denis Petrashov will swim in the A-final as the fifth seed with a prelim time of 52.06 and Aiden Kreiley (53.23) and Luke Shourds (53.25) will both be in the B-final.
Else Praasterink was the top overall qualifier in the platform with score of 290.05. Lindsay Gizzi placed ninth with a mark of 241.25, Jiselle Miller was 15th after posting a 217.3 and Grace Leonard scored a 189.6.Â
