Cardinals Return Home to Host FAU Tuesday Night

Kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â Following back-to-back ACC road victories, the No. 7 Louisville men's soccer team returns home to host Florida Atlantic on Tuesday at 7 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra, while live scoring is available at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville enters Tuesday's match at 8-1-2 overall and 4-1-0 in the ACC following Friday's 1-0 victory at Virginia Tech. Louisville, ranked seventh in last week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 and ninth in the Soccer America Top 25, is riding a six-match unbeaten streak overall. Junior Tate Schmitt leads the Cardinals with five goals this season, including four in the last four matches. Senior Tim Kubel has four goals, while senior Mohamed Thiaw has three goals. Junior Adam Wilson has a team-leading five assists, while Kubel and Schmitt have three assists each.Â
ABOUT THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic dropped to 1-8-0 overall and 1-4-0 in Conference USA with Saturday's 3-1 loss at New Mexico. The Owls have lost five straight matches while allowing three or more goals in four of those losses. Last season, FAU was 4-10-1 overall and 2-6-0 in C-USA.

KUBEL NAMED CANDIDATE FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD
Tim Kubel was named Sept. 22 among 30 candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate men's soccer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Each of the 60 men's and women's candidates has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch with 30 having grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher and 12 being returning All-Americans. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates also have been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.
Each of the two candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
