October 11, 2025 | Men's Soccer
Louisville has not scored a goal since the 89th minute against Kentucky
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The University of Louisville men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision on the road at Virginia Tech Saturday night at Thompson Field.
Despite a solid defensive performance through the first 60 minutes, the Cardinals (5-5-2, 1-5-0 ACC) were unable to find the back of the net while the Hokies (5-2-4, 1-1-2 ACC) capitalized on their second-half chances.
After a scoreless opening half, Virginia Tech broke through in the 66th minute when Dagur Traustason converted from the top right of the box off a pass from Ian Marcano. The Hokies added an insurance goal late, as Traustason struck again in the 90th minute, finishing a feed from Declan Quill.
Louisville generated six shots on the night, led by TJ Kahoalii, Bilal Camara, Elijah Brijbasi, and Leon Kondic, who each registered attempts. Kondic provided the team's lone shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff turned away four shots in a busy night between the posts, helping keep the Cardinals within reach until the final moments.
Virginia Tech held an 18-6 advantage in total shots and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks, while both teams were nearly even in fouls (9-8).
The Cardinals will look to bounce back next week as continue their road swing with a trip to Wake Forest on Friday, Oct. 17. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on the ACCNX.
