LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated the Lipscomb Bisons by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

The Cardinals (3-0-0) never trailed in the match and struck quickly by a Lipscomb own goal in the eighth minute. In the 12th minute, Braydon Sellers tallied a goal that was assisted by Noah De Blasis, making the score 2-0.

Lipscomb scored its only goal of the match in the 33rd minute to briefly cut the Cardinals' lead to one.

Louisville struck back right before the end of the half, via a goal from Johnny Petruso that Giacomo Zizza assisted on at the 43rd minute. It marked Petruso's first career goal.

In the second half, the Cardinals were able to keep Lipscomb off the scoresheet and controlled play down the stretch, which secured the home victory over the Bisons.

Louisville finished with a slight edge in total shots, 14 to 12, but there was a much greater advantage in the shots on goal department, with the Cardinals having nine to Lipscomb's three.

Nathaniel Abraham made two saves in goal for Louisville to earn his third win of the season.

In addition to his assist on the Cardinals' third goal, Zizza led the way for Louisville with four shots, two of which were on target.

The Cards continue their three-match homestand on Monday night, when the No. 14-ranked Indiana Hoosiers come to town. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
