
No. 22 Cards Cruise Past Wright State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 22 University of Louisville men's soccer team scored three goals in a five-minute span in the second half to secure a 3-0 victory over Wright State Thursday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
The Cardinals improved to 4-0-1 on the season with their fourth consecutive unbeaten result, while Wright State fell to 1-3-1.
After a scoreless opening half, Louisville broke through in the 59th minute when Ryan Quintos scored his first goal of the season. Noah De Blasis and Braydon Sellers provided the assists on the opening goal.
Just 67 seconds later, the Cardinals doubled their advantage as Håkon Edstrøm found the back of the net for his first goal of the year. Sellers was credited with the assist.
Louisville added a third goal in the 63rd minute when Sellers scored his second goal of the season, with Jack Lewis providing the assist to cap the three-goal outburst.
The Cardinals controlled the match from start to finish, finishing with a 20-1 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in shots on goal. Louisville also held a 64-36 advantage in possession and earned five corner kicks compared to one for the Raiders.
Giacomo Zizza led Louisville with four shots, including two on goal, while Edstrøm and Sellers each added three shots. Sellers finished with one goal and two assists, factoring into all three Louisville goals.
Nathaniel Abraham recorded his fourth win of the season in goal, making one save to earn his first clean sheet of the season.
Louisville returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 8, traveling to Evansville for an 8 p.m. ET matchup with the Purple Aces.
