No. 22 Louisville Heads to Evansville on Tuesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 22 University of Louisville men's soccer team returns to the road Tuesday, traveling to Evansville for an 8 p.m. ET matchup against the Purple Aces at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Cardinals enter Tuesday's contest with a 4-0-1 record after opening the season unbeaten through their first five matches. Louisville has outscored its opponents 12-5 this season and has outshot each of its first five opponents, holding an 84-38 advantage in shots.
Louisville is coming off a 3-0 victory over Wright State on Thursday at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals scored three goals in a five-minute span, with Braydon Sellers, Ryan Quintos and Håkon Edstrøm finding the back of the net. Sellers also added two assists in the victory.
Giacomo Zizza has continued to pace the Cardinals offensively in his first season at Louisville. The junior midfielder leads the team with four goals and nine points while ranking first with 17 shots and 11 shots on goal. Zizza scored twice in Louisville's 3-2 comeback victory at Kentucky and added an assist in the Cardinals' 3-1 win over Lipscomb.
Zizza was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week following his performances against Kentucky and Lipscomb and enters Tuesday's match second in the ACC in goals and shots while leading the conference in shots on goal.
Andrés Escudero Martín and Edstrøm will face their former team for the first time as Cardinals. Escudero spent the 2025 season at Evansville, where he scored 11 goals in 20 appearances and earned Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and First Team All-MVC honors. Edstrøm played two seasons at Evansville, appearing in 38 games with 28 starts.
Escudero has been part of Louisville's attack throughout the opening weeks of the season, providing another attacking option for a Cardinal team that has scored at least two goals in four of its first five matches.
Louisville's defense has also been strong to open the campaign. Goalkeeper Nathaniel Abraham has started all five matches, while the Cardinals have limited opponents to 38 shots through five contests. Louisville has held four of its five opponents to fewer than 10 shots.
Evansville enters Tuesday's matchup with a 0-3-1 record. The Purple Aces earned their first tie of the season Friday, playing Kentucky to a 1-1 draw in Lexington.

Tuesday will mark the 19th meeting between Louisville and Evansville. The Purple Aces hold an 11-6-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals in the teams' most recent meeting in 2025.
Louisville's last victory in the series came in Evansville during the 2023 season, when the Cardinals earned a 2-0 shutout.
