Cards Earn Road Draw at Wake Forest

Wilson found the equalizer in the 69th minute to earn the draw.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The University of Louisville men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Wake Forest on Friday night at Spry Stadium.
After falling behind just before halftime, the Cardinals found the equalizer midway through the second half when Quinton Wilson netted his third goal of the season in the 69th minute. Wilson was initially called offsides but the call was reversed after a quick video review.
The Demon Deacons struck first in the 45th minute on a goal from Alfred Debah, assisted by Daniel Krueger. Despite Wake Forest holding a 16-12 advantage in total shots and controlling 62 percent of possession, the Louisville defense held firm in the final stretch.
Goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff recorded four saves in the match, including two in the closing 15 minutes to preserve the result. Chase Vazquez led the Cardinals with four shots, while TJ Kahoalii added two from the midfield.
Louisville earned five corner kicks to Wake Forest's four and showed resilience in the second half to secure a point on the road in ACC play.
The Cardinals move to 5-5-3 overall and 1-5-1 in the ACC, while Wake Forest now sits at 6-3-4 (1-3-2 ACC). Louisville will close out its road swing with a trip to Lipscomb on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
