Cards Fall to Evansville on Monday Night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team (5-6-4, 1-5-1 ACC) fell 3-1 to Evansville (5-3-8, 2-0-3 ASUN) on Monday night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff tallied five saves on the night, including a key stop in the 72nd minute to keep the Cards within striking distance. Louisville recorded 11 shots and earned eight corner kicks in the match.
In the first half of play, the Aces capitalized on a Louisville miscue to put them up 1-0. The Cards battled in the midfield and earned themselves six corners, but were not able to convert. In the final minutes of the first half, Evansville's Devin Shepherd scored on a cross from Ben Zec to push the Purple Aces' lead to 2-0.
During the second half, Louisville came out hot, scoring in the 64th minute. Jack Boring placed a through ball into Michael Lee for the first goal of the half. Evansville bounced back in the 79th with a goal from Tancredi Fadda, assisted by Andres Escudero and Shepherd.
Four yellow cards were administered throughout the game. Two were given to Evansville and two were given to Louisville.
The Cardinals will be back in action at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Friday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m. ET to take on Pitt. The game will be broadcast on ACCNX.
