Men's Swimming Qualifies Eight For NCAAs

Cards will send an additional four for relay swims.
 The University of Louisville men's swimming team qualified eight swimmers according to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee which announced today the participants in the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

The championships will be held March 23-26 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The Georgia Institute of Technology will serve as the host.
The Cardinals will send Trevor Carroll, Carlos Claverie, Pedro Coutinho, Aaron Greene, Zach Harting, Matthias Lindenbauer, Grigory Tarasevich, and Nolan Tesone. In addition, the Cards will send David Boland, Josh Quallen, Jonathan Zoucha and Christian Garkani as relay swimmers.
Trevor Carroll qualified 11th in the 200 freestyle (1:33.52).
Carlos Claverie qualified 9th in the 200 breaststroke and 14th in the 100Â breaststroke.
Pedro Coutinho ranks 14th in the 100 fly (46.02).
Aaron Greene stands at 14th in the 200 backstroke (1:40.94).
Zach Harting is ranked 18th in the 200 fly (1:42.95).
Matthias Lindenbauer qualified 17th in the 200 free 1:34.01

Grigory Tarasevich qualified 3rd in the 200 back (1:39.28) and  4th in the 100-back (45.28).
Nolan Tesone qualified 8th in the 400-IM (3:41.41), 14th in the 200-IM (1:43.43). and 23rd in the 200 back (1:41.66).
The Cardinals are qualified to swim in all five relay events. They are fourth-ranked in the the 800-free relay (6:14.96) and the 400-medley relay (3:04.90). UofL is ranked fifth in the 200-medley relay (1:24.01) and made qualifying times in the 200-free relay (1:18.15) and the 400-free relay (2:53.43).
A total of 270 participants (235 swimmers and 35 divers) will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered.  Divers will be determined by performances achieved at the Zone Diving meets March 7-12.  The complete lists of all swimmers (athletes by institution, official psych sheet, relays and alternates) competing in the championships is available at www.usaswimming.org/ncaa. Selected divers will be added to the website Sunday, March 13.
