No. 7/20 Swimming and Diving Set to Host No. 10 Tennessee

The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Thursday afternoon as they host Tennessee at 2 p.m. at Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The Cardinals improved to 2-0 after an impressive performance against Cincinnati in their previous meet with the men winning 236-74 and the women winning 212-87.
The women, who are ranked No. 7/8 in the nation, are led by defending National Champion, Kelsi Worrell, who won both the 100 back and 200 back events while setting a school record with a time of 52.69 in the 100 back against Cincinnati. In the meet, Marah Pugh picked up two individual wins in the grueling 1650 freestyle and the 400 IM while Devon Bibault picked up two wins by finishing first in the 100 and 200 fly events. Diver Andrea Acquista triumphed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Kelsi Worrell leads the nation with the best times in the 50 free (22.20), 100 free (48.60), and 100 fly (51.51) this season. Freshman Mallory Comerford holds the best time in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.19 and Andrea Kneppers holds the best time in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.69. Andrea Cottrell holds the best times in the nation in both breaststroke events, with a time of 59.58 in the 100 breast and 2:08.53 in the 200 breast. Freshman Rachel Bradford-Feldman holds the best time in both the 200 IM (1:59.49) and the 400 IM (4:00.45).
On the men's side, three Cardinals picked up multiple victories to lead the No. 20 men's swimming and diving team over the Bearcats. Trevor Carroll continued to put together an impressive start to his junior season with victories in the 200 free and 500 free events. Carlos Claverie swept both breaststroke events while diver Sean Piner took first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Nolan Tesone holds the 6th best time in the nation with a time of 3:52.62 in the 400 IM. In the 200 backstroke, Aaron Greene's time of 1:46.79 is the 15th best time in the nation. Grigory Tarasevich holds the 16th best time in the nation in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.35. Carlos Claverie's time of 2:00.98 in the 200 breaststroke is 17th in the nation.
The Tennessee No. 9 women's and No. 11 men's swimming and diving team are coming off a split against Virginia in which the men took a 210-90 victory while the women fell to the No. 1 ranked Cavaliers 174-121.
The men, who are 3-0 on the season, picked up wins in 15 of the 16 events in the meet against Virginia. Sophomore Sam McHugh picked up wins in the 200 fly, 500 free, and 400 IM. Senior Sean Lehane won the 200 free and 200 back and senior Mauricio Robles picked up a pair of victories on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards for the Volunteers.
Sam McHugh has picked up six wins in the last two meets and currently holds the fifth best time in the nation in the 400 IM (3:52.39), 11th best time in the 200 fly (1:47.26), and 13th best time in the 500 free (4:27.20). Lehane's time of 1:43.41 in the 200 back is currently second in the nation and his time of 47.84 in the 100 back is seventh in the nation. Sophomore Peter Stevens has the third best time in the nation in the 100 breast 54.12

Senior Harper Bruens won the 50 free, while Lauren Driscoll won the 400 IM, and freshman Madeline Banic won the 100 fly for the Volunteers. On the diving side, senior Sarah Chewning won the 1-meter event while freshman Rachel Rubadue won the 3-m event. Four of the six Volunteer divers that competed during the meet recorded NCAA zone qualifying marks.
Banic's time of 53.77 in the 100 fly against Virginia is raaked fourth in the nation. Driscoll's time in the 400 IM (4:15.91) against Virginia is ranked seventh in the nation. Senior Faith Johnson's time of 22.81 in the 50 free is ranked seventh in the nation and junior Madeline Tegner holds the 11th best time in the 1000 free (9:58.71).
