Cardinals Drop Pair in Sunday Doubleheader at Georgia Tech
May 11, 2025 | Baseball
Louisville lost 6-0 and 2-1 on Sunday in Atlanta.
ATLANTA – The 19th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team lost both halves of a doubleheader at Georgia Tech on Sunday, losing 6-0 in game one before a 2-1 loss in the second.
Louisville (34-17, 14-13 ACC) was held nearly silent in the doubleheader, tallying just one hit in each game.
The opening game was all Georgia Tech (37-15, 17-10) on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets plated three runs in the opening frame to jump in front.
Patrick Forbes locked it down from there, keeping GT off the scoreboard over the second, third and fourth innings.
However, the Louisville offense never got anything going. The Cardinals were held hitless through the first 6.2 innings of the seven-inning game before Garret Pike hit a sinking liner into right field for the first and only hit of the game.
Forbes (2-2) took the loss, allowing the three first-inning runs with six strikeouts over four innings.
The Yellow Jackets scored the opening run of the second game as well, pushing a run across in the first.
As they were in game one, the Cardinals were held without a hit through the first six innings.
Louisville appeared to have its first hit, run and lead of the game all with one swing in the sixth. However, Eddie King Jr.'s potential three-run home run was taken away by a leaping grab over the left field wall.
Tague Davis made sure no home run robbery was possible leading off the seventh, launching a ball over the trees in right field and out of the stadium to tie the game at one. The homer was his 16th of the year, setting a new record for home runs by a Louisville freshman.
However, Georgia Tech answered back with a run in its half of the seventh and would make it hold up over the final two innings.
Tucker Biven allowed just one run over four innings in his second start of the year, getting a no-decision in the game.
Louisville now heads into the final week of the regular season with Bellarmine coming to Jim Patterson Stadium on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
