LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Competition continued at the Louisville First Chance Meet as swimmers from Louisville, Kentucky and Miami raced the clock to shave time off their qualifying marks as they head into the postseason.

In the 500 freestyle, Louisville's Amelia Bodenstab put up a time of 4:43.85 just edging teammate Leticia Romao's 4:44.59 and Merve Tuncel's 4:55.91

Luke Shourds hit an NCAA B-standard time of 52.58 in the 100 breaststroke, ahead of UK's Eli Greinke (54.07) and Murilo Amatuzzi (55.68).

Camille Murray of UofL boarded a 1:55.85 in the 200 backstroke for first and Drew Collins went 1:42.85 in the men's event for a B-standard.

Avery Karl repeated her prelim win in the 100 free this evening in the finals, going 50.12 to beat out teammate Bianca Costea (50.93) and Miami's Jory Richardson (51.95). In the men's 100 free, Matias Santiso dropped .23 from his preliminary time to post the winning time of 43.23. Ethan Chauliaguet was second in 44.33 and Robert Ehrenborg was fourth in 45.05.

Thomas Powers-Hammond won the 200 fly, turning in a 1:43.36 just out-touching Cardinal Mateo Miceli, who swam a 1:43.73.

Kayden Lancaster swam a 4:23.08 in the 500 free time trial. Grant Gooding swam a 53.26 in the 100 breast time trial in the final event of the day.

The Cards are back in action Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
