Cards are racing the clock
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville spent the morning racing the clock at the Louisville First Chance Invitational as the Cards vie for qualifying times along with swimmers from Kentucky and Miami.

In the 500 freestyle, Amelia Bodenstab turned in a 4:45.47 and Leticia Romao turned in a 4:45.55. Merve Tencel stopped the clock at 4:59.19 for the top three spots.

In the men's 500 free, Kentucky's Jack Haywood had the fastest time with a 4:30.93.

In the 100 breaststroke, Luke Shourds took the top spot with a time of 53.00. Eli Greinke (55.32) was second and Murilo Amatuzzi (55.44) was third.

In the 200 backstroke, Louisville's Camille Murray boarded a time of 1:57.78.

Avery Karl led the charge in the women's 100 freestyle with a time of 49.57 followed Bianca Costea (51.20), Miami's Jory Richardson (51.59) and Hana Spaulding (52.62). In the men's race, Matias Santiso turned in a time of 43.46 for the win. Newcomer Ethan Chauliguet (44.45), touched second just ahead of UK's Alec Lampen. UofL's Rob Ehrenborg was fourth, turning in a 45.95.

Miami's Carly Lahr won the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.86. On the men's side, Louisville's Thomas Powers-Hammond won with a 1:43.78 and Mateo Miceli was second in 1:43.92 in a closely contested final lap.

In the 200 back, Drew Collins went 1:43.96 and Charlie Crush posted a 46.42 in the 100 fly in time trial racing.
