
Cards Head Into Finals on Last Night at ACCs

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Cardinals will send 13 swimmers into the final session of the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The men's team is currently fifth and the women are third going into the finals.Â
In the women's 200 backstroke, Rye Ulett earned a second swim with a time of 1:54.78 to make the C-final. Olympian Claire Curzan will be the top seed tonight after stopping the clock at 1:49.97, the only swimmer sub 1:50. On the men's side, Filip Kosinski will swim in the B-final tonight after posting a 1:41.50. Mateo Miceli boarded a 1:42.47 to make the C-final. Cal's Gabriel Jett will be the top seed after throwing down a 1:38.19.

UofL put three Cards in the championship final in the women's 100 freestyle led by Julia Dennis' 47.28. Gabi Albiero turned in a 47.60 and Lucy Mehraban went 47.98. Gretchen Walsh of Virginia is the top seed after posting a 45.50, the only woman sub-46 in the field. In the men's 100 freestyle, Guy Brooks will be back tonight after swimming a 42.36. Matias Santiso went 42.84 and Murilo Sartori had a time of 42.84. The top seed tonight will be Cal's John Alexy, who went 41.52.

In the 200 breaststroke, all three entries for the Cardinals advanced to the B-finals, led by Kim Herkle's 2:09.75. Joining her will be Mia Cheatwood, who went 2:09.93 and Fernanda Celidonio, who boarded a 2:10.71.

Three Cardinal men will be swimming in the championship final tonight in the 200 breast led by Jake Eccleston's 1:51.84 which is a freshman record and will seed him as No. 1 going into tonight. Denis Petrashov will be there too after going 1:52.63 as the third seed. Tommy Bried continues his point spree when he grabbed the last spot in the A-final with a 1:53.76.

In women's platform diving, Lindsay Gizzi placed 16th  with a score of 236.10. Samm Helmboldt placed 22nd with a score of 212.25 and Audree Brazeau-Howes placed 25th with a score of 206.55.
