Cardinals Host Central Michigan to Close Homestand
September 02, 2023 | Women's Soccer
This is the final of three-straight games at home for the Cardinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team is set to close its three-game homestand this Sunday when they welcome Central Michigan to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals and Chippewas are set to square off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
This will be just the second meeting all-time between the two schools. The first matchup came back in 2011 when the Chippewas defeated the Cardinals, 1-0, in overtime at Cardinal Park. It is the first opponent the Cardinals have faced from the Mid-American Conference since they defeated Western Michigan, 6-2, in the season opener of the 2021 season.
In the Cardinals most recent game against Illinois, Savina Zamborini got on the scoresheet for the first time in the 2023 season. It was her first goal since the 2021 season when she scored in the 2-1 overtime win over Wake Forest. Erynn Floyd had a strong game against the Illini with a season-high seven saves on the night. It was one shy of her career high of eight against Duke last season.
After Sunday's matchup with the Chippewas, the Cardinals will hit the road for a single game before coming back home for another long homestand. Louisville will make the short trip north to Bloomington and take on Indiana. The Cardinals and Hoosiers will face off on Thursday, September 7 and it will be streamed on Big Ten Network Plus.
