Karina Peat tallied both of the Cardinals' goals in the contest

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's soccer team earned bragging rights in the Battle of the Bluegrass after taking down in-state rival Kentucky by a score of 2-1 Thursday night at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

Louisville (5-1-0) earned the early advantage in the 23^rd minute when Karina Peat converted a goal on a pass from Liza Suydam initiated by Amelia Swinarski.

Less than four minutes later, Ka. Peat scored her second goal of the contest off an assist from Nicole Jodoin, earning her first multi-goal game of the season.

Kentucky (4-2-0) cut its deficit in half with a late goal in the 83rd minute, but was unable to put any more points on the board, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 victory over the Wildcats.

Goalkeeper Brielle Baker held the Wildcats to just one goal while making a career-high four saves.

Louisville will return home for its last non-conference match before Atlantic Coast Conference play begins with a contest against Mercyhurst on Sunday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
