Freshman McKalie Ball tallied her first career goal in the 3-1 victory

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's soccer team extended its win streak to six games after taking down Mercyhurst by a score of 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

Louisville (5-1-0) got on the board first after a cross from Karina Peat intended for Amelia Swinarski was deflected by a Mercyhurst player into their own goal in the 22^nd minute.

Less than a minute later, the Cards added to their lead when a header by McKalie Ball off the pass from Abby Cox found the back of the net. The goal marks the first for Ball in her college career.

Nicole Jodoin is continuing to surge in her sophomore season, tallying her second goal of the season off the assist by Ka. Peat to put Louisville up 3-0 in the 52nd minute.

Mercyhurst scored its lone goal of the contest in the 67^th minute, but was unable to get any closer, giving Louisville a 3-1 victory.

The Cards look ahead to the start of Atlantic Coast Conference play when they play host to Pitt on Saturday, September 12 at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
