Cardinals Move to Tenth at NCAA Championships After Day 2

MINNEAPOLIS -- After two days of racing, the University of Louisville men stand in tenth at the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

California (184) took over the lead followed by Texas (165), Arizona State (154), NC State (151.5), Florida (145), Indiana (145), Tennessee (87), Stanford (74), Auburn (57) and Louisville (55) rounds out the top ten.

Louisville's Abdelrahman El-Araby touched eighth in the consolation final of the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 19.30. The event was won by Tennessee's Jordan Crooks who turned in the winning time of 18.32.

In the 200 free relay, the Cardinals touched eighth in the final heat and 11th overall. Abdelrahman El-Araby (19.22), Michael Eastman (18.95), Dalton Lowe (18.79) and Vlad Dubinin (18.99) combined to post a 1:15.95. The Florida Gators defended their title and set an NCAA record with a time of 1:13.35 shaving .73 seconds from the record set by Auburn.

The NCAA Championships continue Friday with the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay.
Swimming prelims begin at 11 a.m. EST, followed by diving prelims at 1 p.m. and finals at 7 p.m. Live coverage of the meet will stream on ESPN+, with live results available online and to paid subscribers on the MeetMobile app.
