GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After the Day 4 finals of racing at the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, the University of Louisville men are in second place and the women are in third.

The NC State men lead with 1,163 points followed by Louisville (727.5), Virginia Tech (688), Virginia (659), Notre Dame (585.5), Florida State (474), North Carolina (459), Pitt (438.5), Georgia Tech (333.5), Duke (228), Miami (150) and Boston College (123). Virginia holds the lead on the women's side with 1,128 points followed by North Carolina State (942), Louisville (822.5), North Carolina (687), Duke (574), Virginia Tech (468), Florida State (461), Notre Dame (408), Georgia Tech (308), Miami (299), Pitt (249.5), Boston College (137).

In the A-final of the 200 butterfly, Abby Hay won silver with a time of 1:53.51 and Tristen Ulett was sixth, going 1:55.69. Both times were fast enough to be invited to the NCAA Championships a year ago. The event was won by defending ACC Champion Abby Arens of NC State who led wire to wire turning in a time of  1:52.91.

In the men's 200 butterfly, Gustavo Saldo was into the wall eighth with a time of 1:44.35 in the A-Final. Tommy Bried won the B-final with a time of 1:43.71 and Denis Loktev was third in the B with a 1:44.20. Jacob Pishko won the C-final with a time of 1:44.79. NC State's Aiden Hayes won by just shy of a second with a time of 1:40.21.Â

In the women's 100 backstroke, Paige Hetrick touched third in the B-final with a time of 52.42. NC State's Katherine Berkoff won the event with a time of 49.45 as the only swimmer sub 50 seconds.

The Louisville men were led by Dalton Lowe in the 100 backstroke. Lowe swam in the A-final and boarded a time of 46.12 for eighth. In the C-final, freshman Charlie Crush touched second, turning in a time of 46.54.

In the 100 breaststroke, Cecilia Viberg was second in the B-final with a time of 59.84 and Ella Welch touched seventh with a time of 1:00.44. Virginia's Alex Walsh swam a 57.64 for gold.

In the men's 100 breaststroke, Denis Petrashov won silver with a personal best time of 51.26 with a strong last lap as he and Virginia's Noah Nichols dueled down the stretch. Nichols touched in 51.26 to win gold. The Cards' Luke Shourds was fourth in the B-finals with a 53.21 and Aidan Kreiley was sixth in that same heat with a 53.47.

Else Praasterink won silver in the women's platform diving with a score of 333.20. It was a two woman battle for first with UNC's Aranza Vazquez squeaking by with a 337.05 for the win.

In the 400 medley relay, the foursome of Abby Hay, Cecilia Viberg, Gabi Albiero and Christiana Regenauer combined to post the third fastest swim of 3:27.78 but were disqualified after the race was reviewed. The race was won by the Virginia women with an NCAA and US Open record time of 3:21.80.

In the men's race Charlie Crush (46.79), Denis Petrashov (50.43), Dalton Lowe (44.63) and Abdelrahman El-Araby (41.52) turned in a bronze medal time of 3:03.37. Â NC State won with a time of 3:01.10 to break an ACC record.

The final day of competition will begin with 9:30 a.m. prelims, the 1650 freestyle's early heats will go off at 2:15 and finals will commence at 5:30.
