Louisville Advances 23 Cardinals into ACC Championship Finals on Day 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams will send 23 swimmers into the finals after Day 2 preliminary racing at the 2023 ACC Championships Wednesday morning at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

In the 500 freestyle, Liberty Williams advanced to the A-final, qualifying sixth overall after posting a 4:43.35. Rye Ulett earned a second swim with a 4:46.78 to move into the B-final and freshman Paige Kuwata's 4:50.00 moved her into the C-final tonight. Georgia Tech's Deniz Ertan posted the fastest prelim time of 4:40.03.

For the men in the 500 freestyle, Louisville is sending Ilia Sibirtsev to the A-final after he qualified seventh with a 4:17.12. Murilo Sartori (4:17.88) and Denis Loktev (4:18.92) earned a second swim as they moved into the B-final and teammates Tommy Bried (4:20.99) and Eli Shoyat (4:20.55) will be back in the C-final for additional point scoring opportunities. Freshman Jacob Pishko turned in a 4:23.53 in his prelim heat.

In the 200-Individual Medley, Abby Hay qualified second with a 1:55.07 to return for the A-final this evening. Tristen Ulett (1:57.75) and Fernanda Celidonio (1:58.36) will swim the B-final for the Cardinals in tonight's session and Madie Hall advanced to the C-final with a 1:59.70.

In the men's 200 IM, Luke Shourds earned a second swim in tonight's finals with a time of 1:45.92 and will compete in the C-final. Jackson Millard went 1:46.81 in his heat with Charlie Crush (1:48.88) and Aiden Kreiley (1:50.21) completing the Cards' entries.

In the 50 free, Louisville put three women in the A-final led by Gabi Albiero's 21.59. Christiana Regenauer went 21.88 and Ella Welch put up a 21.98 to join Albiero in the A-final. Julia Dennis went 22.04 and Karoline Barrett posted a 22.04 and they will advance to the B-Final. In prelims, Cecilia Viberg went 23.86.

For the men, Abdelrahman El-Araby advanced to the A-final with a 19.22. The B-final will have three Cardinals led by Michael Eastman's 19.46 along with Dalton Lowe's 19.59 and Vlad Dubinin's 19.66. Â
