LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Led by 16 kills from Claire Chaussee, the No. 2-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team defeated No. 11 Georgia Tech in four sets 22-25, 25-14, 24-21, and 25-21 on Sunday afternoon at the L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.Â

Louisville extends its unbeaten streak in the ACC play to 32 straight matches and moves its record to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in ACC play. Elena Scott had a career-high 26 digs, five assists, and two aces. Chaussee led the team with 16 kills hitting .351, adding an ace, and nine digs. Aiko Jones notched 12 kills hitting .385 with seven blocks. Phekran Kong also had seven blocks and notched five kills. Amaya Tillman led the team in blocks with eight; she also had ten kills. Raquel Lazaro had 42 assists, three kills, 12 digs, an ace, and five blocks.

Georgia Tech  (10-3, 3-1 ACC) hit .150 and had 48 kills, six aces, and five blocks as a team. The Yellow Jackets were led by Erin Moss, who had 11 kills hitting .409 and a block. Julia Bergmann had ten kills and six digs. Breland Morrissette had nine kills and one block.

The Cardinals head to Boston College for an ACC matchup on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET and then head to Syracuse where they will play Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Georgia Tech scored the first point of the set, but UofL quickly answered with back-to-back blocks with a solo block from Tillman and a double block from Jones and Tillman. The Yellow Jackets went on a 4-0 scoring run to bring the score to 5-3. A backrow kill from Jones brought the Cards within one. Kills from Tillman and Nena Mbonu tied the score at 8-8. A block from Jones and Kong and a solo block from Kong tied the score at 11-11. Georgia Tech led 15-13 heading into the media timeout before back-to-back points from the Yellow Jackets forced UofL to call their first timeout at 17-13. A kill from Tillman brought the Cards within two and pushed Georgia Tech to call a timeout at 18-16. Coming out of the break, UofL tied the score at 18-18 after a 4-0 scoring run. The Cardinals used their final timeout down 21-18. A kill from Bergmann gave Georgia Tech the 23-20 lead. After a long rally on both sides, Louisville pulled within one. After Georgia Tech used its final timeout at 23-22, the Jackets scored twice to win the first set 25-22. The set loss snapped a nine-set winning streak for the Cardinals. Tillman led the Cardinals with four kills and three blocks.

An ace from Lazaro brought the Cards within one. Georgia Tech used their first timeout after a kill from Kong tied the score at 8-8. UofL took its first lead of the set after a solo block from Jones. A kill from Chaussee gave the Cardinals a 3-0 scoring run pushing the score to 14-11. The Yellow Jackets used their final timeout after an ace from Scott gave the Cardinals a 16-11 lead. A roll shot kill from Chaussee pushed the score to 18-12 and UofL extended the lead to 20-13 on a backrow kill from Jones.
