Black Team Wins Red and Black Scrimmage

The Cards hosted their annual intrasquad Red & Black Scrimmage on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville volleyball team played its annual intrasquad Red & Black Scrimmage on Saturday afternoon, where the black squad earned the 4-0 win at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
"Any intrasquad scrimmage is always a success when it's injury free and it's played at a pretty high level," said head coach Dan Meske. "I thought both teams got better throughout."
Transfer Brooke Bultema led the black team with 12 kills and a pair of blocks. Kalyssa Blackshear added nine kills and a block. Setter Nayelis Cabello posted four kills, 36 assists, and three blocks.
Freshman Amirra Bailey led the red squad with 13 kills and four blocks. Chloe Meester added 11 kills and two blocks.
"We had a lot of kids that made their debut in front of an awesome Cardinal crowd here," added Meske. "I was very pleased with what we got out of it."
The Cards will open their season next weekend at the Jeep AVCA First Serve at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis. UofL will begin its 2026 campaign against the defending national champions, No. 8 Texas A&M, on Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. ET before taking on No. 6 Wisconsin on Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. ET. The match against the Aggies will be streamed on ESPN 2, while the match against the Badgers will be streamed on FOX.
