Claire Chaussee leads with 14 kills
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Outside hitter Claire Chaussee had 14 kills hitting .393 to lead the No. 2-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-13 sweep of Boston College on Friday night at the Connell Recreation Centers.

With the win, Louisville extends its unbeaten streak in ACC play to 33 straight matches and moves its record to 14-1 overall and 5-0 in ACC play.Â

The Cardinals hit .430 as a team and recorded 12 total blocks. Amaya Tillman had a team-high eight blocks and recorded 11 kills on 19 attempts with no errors hitting .579. Nena Mbonu had six kills, two digs, and three blocks while Phekran Kong had six kills hitting .857 and four blocks. Chaussee also had six digs and one block. Raquel Lazaro led the team with 34 assists and recorded six digs, three blocks, and two kills. Libero Elena Scott had nine digs and three assists.Â

Boston College (13-6, 1-4 ACC) hit .099 as a team with 33 kills and three blocks. Alayna Crabtree led the Eagles with 11 kills and one ace. Izzy Clavenna had six kills and two blocks. Anna Murphy led the team in digs with nine.Â

The Cardinals continue ACC play as they travel to Syracuse where they will play Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET.Â

The Cardinals and the Eagles exchanged points back and forth to start set one. A kill from Kong gave the Cards a one point lead at 9-8. Back-to-back points gave Boston College a two point lead at 12-10. A kill from Chaussee tied the score at 14-14. The Eagles used their first timeout after back-to-back kills from Mbonu and Chaussee gave UofL the 17-14 lead. A kill by Lazaro extends the lead to 19-14. An attack error from Boston College forced the Eagles to use their second timeout. After an 11-1 scoring run, the Cardinals took the first set 25-15. Chaussee and Kong led the Cardinals with four kills each.

Back-to-back kills from Chaussee and Aiko Jones gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead to being the second set. A 3-0 scoring run for the Eagles gave Boston College the 5-3 lead. A block from Kong and Lazaro brought UofL within one point. Another block assist from Kong and Jones gave the Cardinals the 9-7 lead. The Cards extended the score to 11-10 with a kill from Kong.  A kill from the Eagles tied the score at 12-12. UofL went on a 3-0 scoring run to extend the score to 15-12. A kill from Mbonu gave the Cards a three point lead at 17-14. The Eagles brought the score within one point, but the Cardinals answered back with back-to-back kills from Jones and Chaussee to push the lead to 21-18. An ace from Ceci Rush gave UofL the 23-19 lead. Louisville won the second set 25-20 on a kill from Tillman, who had six kills hitting .545 with three blocks.Â

Another kill from Tillman pushed the score to 9-5. A 3-0 run for the Cards pushed the score to 14-8 after back-to-back blocks from Tillman and Jones.  An attack error from the Eagles forced Boston College to use their first timeout at 15-8. A 3-0 run after the timeout extended the Cards' lead to 18-8. UofL pushed the score to 22-11 on a block from Tillman and Sydni Schetnan. A kill from Chaussee ended the match. The Cardinals won the third set 25-13. Chaussee led the Cards with 14 kills hitting .393.
