No. 7 Louisville Set for Home Slate Against No. 16 Indiana and Dayton

The Cards will host the Hoosiers on Friday, Aug. 28 for a blackout match, and the Flyers on Monday, Aug. 31. Both matches are set to take place at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville volleyball team will host a blackout match against No.16-ranked Indiana for its home opener on Friday, Aug. 28, followed by Dayton on Monday, Aug. 31. First serve for Friday's match is set for 7 p.m. ET, while Monday's contest will start at 6 p.m. ET. Both matchups will be at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena and will be streamed on ACCNX.
The Cards are coming off a split weekend to open their season at the Jeep AVCA First Serve in Milwaukee, Wis., where they beat No. 8-ranked Texas A&M in four sets, but fell to No. 6-ranked Wisconsin. IU will be UofL's third straight top-20 matchup to start the 2026 season.

TEAM NOTES
- UofL started the season with a four-set win (25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21) against No. 8-ranked Texas A&M, the defending national champions. The Cards finished with 57 kills on .241 hitting in the contest versus the Aggies. The next day, Louisville dropped its match against the No. 6-ranked Badgers.
- The Cardinals continue Dan Meske's second season as head coach after finishing the 2025 season with an overall record of 26-7 (16-4 ACC) and advancing to their seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament regional semifinal.
- Louisville heads into Friday ranked No. 7 in the AVCA/Taraflex Preseason Poll which marks the fifth consecutive season the Cardinals have opened the year ranked in the top 10 nationally. The Cards were also picked to finish third in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll.
PLAYER NOTES
- Outside hitter Chloe Chicoine led the Cardinals with 19 kills on a .421 hitting percentage against the Aggies and added nine digs, four assists and a pair of blocks. The stellar performance earned her MVP honors for the match. She also led the Cards with 10 kills and recorded nine digs against the Badgers.
- Libero Payton Petersen played the position for the first time in her career, setting a new career-high with 24 digs against Texas A&M. She earned 16 digs and four assists versus the Badgers. She was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for her dominant efforts.
- Setter Nayelis Cabello posted 45 assists against Texas A&M to surpassing the 2,000-assist mark for her career early in the second set. The following day, she dished out 26 assists against Wisconsin.
- Cabello and Chicoine were two of 30 players named to the AVCA Player of the Year Preseason Watch List. The pair also earned Preseason All-ACC honors, where they were joined by Petersen and opposite hitter Kalyssa Blackshear.
