Cardinals Return Home to Host Murray State Tuesday

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The ninth-ranked University of Louisville baseball team return to Jim Patterson Stadium on Tuesday to take on Murray State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on ACC Network Extra. Radio coverage will be available on 1450 WXVM.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
After winning the series opener on Friday, Louisville dropped the final two games of the weekend at Georgia Tech. It marked the first time the Cardinals had lost their opening series of ACC play since joining the league in 2015.
The Louisville offense hit its stride in Atlanta, tallying 28 runs on 40 hits in the three-game series. The Cardinals matched their season high with 13 runs in the opener and then set a season-high with 16 hits in the finale.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and Murray State have met 18 times with the Cardinals holding a 14-4 edge in the series. Despite being in the same state, the two programs have not played since Dan McDonnell's first season at Louisville in 2007. The Cardinals have won seven in a row overall against the Racers.

- The Cardinals found their offense last weekend at Georgia Tech, scoring 28 runs on 40 hits in three games. Louisville currently leads the ACC in stolen bases, ranks second in the ACC in runs, hit by pitch and on-base percentage, third in base on balls and hits, and fourth in batting average.
- The Cardinals have been the best in the country on the basepaths this season with 32 stolen bases, 15 more than anyone in the ACC. Levi Usher is third nationally and tops in the ACC with eight, while Henry Davis and Luke Brown are tied for second in the ACC with five.
PLAYER NOTES
- Cooper Bowman slid into the leadoff spot for the three-game series at Georgia Tech and made an immediate impact. Bowman reached base three times in the series opener and scored twice before going 4-for-6 in the finale with a leadoff homer and three runs scored. Bowman hit the first leadoff homer for the Cardinals since Corey Ray at Miami on March 18, 2016.
- Henry Davis has been the most consistent hitter for the Cardinals through 11 games, picking up at least one hit in every game so far. Davis is currently hitting .395 and ranks sixth in the ACC with 13 RBIs. The catcher also ranks second in the conference with five stolen bases after having just one through his first two seasons at Louisville.
- Lucas Dunn got off to a slow start in 2021, hitting just .167 (3-for-18) through the first five games of the season. However, Dunn is hitting .500 (11-for-22) over the last six games, including seven hits int he final two games at Georgia Tech. The junior now has hit average up to .350 on the season and is second on the team with 14 hits.
- Christian Knapczyk was given the nod at shortstop for the three-game series at Georgia Tech and made his impact felt instantly. The freshman went 5-for-10 at the plate on the weekend, tallying three doubles, three walks, driving in four and scoring three times. Knapczyk has a hit in all five games he's played this season.
- Michael Kirian continued his dominant run on the mound last weekend at Georgia Tech, working six innings and allowing just one run for his second win of the season. Since the start of the 2019 season, Kirian has a 1.28 ERA in 49.1 innings with 60 strikeouts and just 12 walks.
- Kaleb Corbett has made a massive impact in his first season with the Cardinals. The right-hander has made four relief appearances, tossing 8.1 scoreless innings with just four hits allowed and 13 strikeouts. Corbett earned the win against Eastern Kentucky and then went the final 3.1 innings in the finale versus Western Illinois for his first career save.
