Louisville falls 4-3
The University of Louisville women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season with a 4-3 decision versus Iowa State in a neutral site match held at Wichita Country Club Saturday evening in Wichita.

"This was an exciting college tennis match but we came up short against a very good team," said Mark Beckham, UofL head coach. "Congrats to Iowa State. They fought like crazy and found a way to win. This will help us, we need to be in situations like today as much as possible."

The Cardinals took the doubles point when Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova combined forces to beat ISU's No. 2 doubles team of Christin Hsieh and Sofia Cabezas 6-1. ISU took the No. 1 doubles match when Thasaporn Naklo and Miska Kadleckova beat Rhea Verma and Andrea DiPalma 6-2. The Cardinals clinched the point when Nikolina Jovic and Dina Chaika beat Maty Cancin and Ting-Pei Chang 7-6 (8-0).

In singles the match was tied at 3-3 and came down to the No. 5 slot where Chie Kezuka lost her first set 5-7 to Rhea Verma but managed to win the second and third sets 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the match.
UofL takes on Wichita State tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. ET.Â
