The duo of Gallegos and Davis earned a 6-2 doubles victory despite the loss
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The No. 62-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 54 Miami (FL) on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â
The Louisville duo of Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos defeated Maria Varga and Daria Volosova 6-2 on Court 3 to start off the match. Miami answered with wins on Courts 2 and 1 to take the doubles point. Hurricane duo Sofia Rocchetti and Sebastianna Scilipoti defeated Berta Miret and Elena Noguero 6-3 on Court 2, and the duo of Raquel Gonzalez/Dominika Podhajecka came back to defeat Alice Otis/Lika Peresypkina 7-6 (7-5) on Court 1.
Miami secured the final three points to clinch the match on Courts 1, 4 and 6. Gonzalez defeated Otis on Court 1, winning 6-3, 6-1. Court 4 saw Podhajecka defeat Peresypkina 6-2, 6-2. Volosova defeated Rebekkah Gaines 7-5, 6-1 on Court 6 to finish out the match.
Louisville will head out on the road to face Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Friday, Feb. 17. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
