Cardinals Hit the Road to Georgia Tech and Clemson

ATLANTA – The University of Louisville women's tennis team starts their road trip with a stop in Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The match is set for Friday, February 27 at 4 p.m.
The No. 69 Cardinals are 7-2 this season and 1-2 in conference play. UofL defeated Florida State to secure its first conference win of the season last Friday. The doubles point came down to a tiebreak on the middle court where Florida State earned a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5) battle for the advantage.In singles competition, the Cards struck first with a victory by Elena Noguero 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot to tie the match. This was shortly followed by Rebekkah Gaines giving the Cards their first lead of the match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court six. Florida State responded with back-to-back points on courts two then one to retake the lead. On court four, Peresypkina retied the match with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win.  The match came down to the final point on the fifth court between Miret and Cricchio. After dropping the first set, Miret was able to secure the victory for the Cardinals 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2.
Louisville is looking to bounce back after being swept by Miami on Sunday. The No. 61 Yellow Jackets are also looking for a win, after getting swept in back-to-back matches against Stanford and California. Georgia Tech enters the match at 4-6 and 0-2 in conference play.
In the loss to Miami, Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos won their doubles match, improving their record as a duo to 6-1. Louisville is 20-6 in their doubles matches, with the duo of Berta Miret and Elena Noguero at 7-2, and the duo of Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina at 5-3.
The Yellow Jackets are led in doubles play by the No. 52 ranked duo of Seri Nayuki and Alejandra Cruz, who are 4-3 in their matches.
In singles play, the Cardinals are 33-11 in their matches. Georgia Tech is 60-49 in their singles matches, led by the No. 50 ranked Alejandra Cruz, who is 13-7.
This will be the first of three matches on the road for Louisville.
