Otis Upsets No. 16 Svendsen 6-3, 6-1

Cards fall to California 4-1 at home
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's tennis fell 4-1 to No. 19 California on Friday night at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
To start off the night, the Cardinals switched up court order, posting the duo of Elena Noguero and Berta Miret on Court 1 followed by Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina on Court 2 and Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos on Court 3.
Miret and Noguero faced off against the No. 65 duo in the country in Cal's Mao Mushika and Johanne Svedsen. While the Cardinals battled back throughout the match, refusing to go down without a fight, UofL (9-8, 1-8 ACC) ultimately succumbed 6-4 to the Bears. Between a 6-1 victory on Court 2 and the 6-4 win on Court 1, California (9-3, 6-1 ACC) earned the doubles point.
At the time the Bears clinched the first point of the match, Davis and Gallegos were in a heated 5-5 battle on Court 3.
The Cards kicked off singles play with a major upset on Court 1. Otis dominated the No. 16 player in the country, controlling the match at 6-3, 6-1. The top-of-the-lineup win evened up the overall score at 1-1.
Following the Louisville victory on Court 1, the Cards fell in straight sets on Court 6, Court 5 and Court 2 resulting in a 4-1 Cal win.
Louisville will be back in action at home on Sunday as it takes on the Stanford Cardinal at noon.
