Cardinals Set to Host No. 19 California and No. 40 Stanford

UofL's last three matches have all been against top 35 teams
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team returns to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to face No. 19 California on March 27 at 4 p.m. and then host No. 40 Stanford on March 29 at noon.Â

Louisville (9-7, 1-7 ACC) is looking to return to its winning ways after a challenging stretch of ACC matches  that saw the Cards fall to No. 24  Duke, No. 4 North Carolina and No. 32 SMU. Those losses snapped a UofL winning streak of two straight against Middle Tennessee and Xavier.  The Cards are led by Berta Miret, who is 8-2 primarily at No. 4 and 5 singles and Elena Noguero's 7-2 mark at No. 2. Germany Davis has eight wins against five losses.Â

California (8-3, 5-1 ACC) will be playing in its fifth straight road dual match. In this week's polls, Cal is ranked No. 19 by the ITA with four Bears appearing in the latest ITA singles rankings: No. 8 Berta Passola Folch (24-6), No. 16 Johanne Svendsen (7-0), No. 82 Mao Mushika (16-7) and No. 91 Naomi Xu (6-9). Two Cal duos are ranked in the ITA doubles poll: No. 65 Mushika and Svendsen (5-1) and No. 78 Mushika and Passola Folch (2-1).

Stanford (8-6, 4-2 ACC) is No. 40 in the ITA rankings released on March 24 and has three players in the singles rankings in Valerie Glozman (#10), Monika Ekstrand (#30) and Alyssa Ahn (#34). Ekstrand and Caroline Driscoll are also in the doubles rankings, checking in at #88. The Cardinal's No. 1-ranked freshman class has picked up a league best three ACC Freshman of the Week honors this season.
