Cardinals Fall to Notre Dame in ACC Opener

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Louisville took the doubles point winning two out of the three courts. Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina defeated Bianca Molnar and Bojana Pozder 6-2 on No 1. Following that victory, Berta Miret and Elena Noguero clinched the point by defeating Akari Matsuno and Sophia Holod 6-2 at No 2. However, Rylie Hanford and Gabrialla Rawles downed Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos 6-4 on No. 3 to prevent the sweep.
Notre Dame (9-1) took control of the singles matches. Gabriella Rawles defeated Rebekkah Gaines 6-1, 6-2 on No. 6 for the first point. Then, Rylie Hanford defeated Berta Miret 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) on No. 5. UND's Bianca Molnar defeated Alice Otis 6-4, 6-4 on No. 1. Akari Matsuno defeated UofL's  Germany Davis 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 To secure the win for the Irish.
Louisville (5-1) returns to the courts when it hosts Indiana on Sunday February 15 at 12:00 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
