Cards Take Down Undefeated Hoosiers

Junior Germany Davis earned both a singles and doubles win on the day
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Â The University of Louisville women's tennis team returned to form against regional rival Indiana by a score of 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â
The Cards kicked off doubles competition with a swift 6-2 win by Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos on the third court. The Hoosiers responded with a 6-4 win on the top court before Louisville clinched the doubles point at the No. 2 spot with a win by Berta Miret and Elena Noguero. The pair's 6-4 win keeps them undefeated as a duo this season. Â
Senior Alice Otis was the first to finish in singles competition, taking down Ameia Sorey in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Lika Peresypkina took down Nicole Teodosescu at the No. 4 spot shortly before Indiana's Hi'ilani Williams claimed the Hoosiers' lone point of the match, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) on the fifth court. Germany Davis clinched the match for the Cards for their second win in a row, defeating Alessandra Teodosescu, 6-3, 7-5.Â
Louisville is now 6-1 on the season while Indiana drops to 7-1.Â
The Cards will remain at home at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center with a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference matches next weekend. First Louisville will take on Florida State on Friday, Feb. 20 with first serve set for 4 p.m. before taking on Miami on Sunday, Feb. 22 at noon.Â
