Cardinals Set to Host Florida State and Miami in ACC Action

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team continues its Atlantic Coast Conference slate with a pair of league matches this weekend. The Cardinals will face Florida State at 4 p.m. on Feb. 20 and then Miami at noon on Feb. 22 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â

Both of Louisville opponents this weekend tied with the Cardinals in ACC play last year with a 4-8 mark.Â

The Cardinals are coming off a 4-1 win over the then-undefeated Indiana last Sunday after falling 4-1 in the ACC opener against Notre Dame. UofL is led by Germany Davis, who has put together a 6-1 record at No. 3. Alice Otis has anchored the No. 1 spot, posting a 5-1 mark. The doubles team of Elena Noguero and Berta Miret remain undefeated at 7-0 at No. 2.Â

The Seminoles (2-5) fell 4-0 to No. 22 Texas Tech (7-1)  and  4-1 to Arizona (6-3) 4 last Saturday in Santa Barbara, California. FSU notched wins over Nevada and USF this spring. The Noles are led by the doubles pair of Millie Bissette and Eva Shaw, who have a 4-1 record, primarily at No. 1. In singles, Mary Boyce Deatherage is 4-1 this spring with a 9-4 mark overall.Â

Most recently, the University of Miami women's tennis team (3-2) fell, 4-2, to No. 25 UCF Knight on Sunday afternoon in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes have posted a pair of wins this spring with a 7-0 shutout of Florida International and a 4-0 victory over Florida Atlantic. The Hurricanes are led by Raquel Gonzales, who is undefeated at 4-0 in dual match play at No. 1.Â
