Cardinals Host No. 4 North Carolina on Saturday Night

Lynn Stadium hosts a Top 20 Matchup on Saturday night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 20 Louisville women's soccer team will host No. 4 North Carolina at Lynn Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinals enter the match with an overall record of 7-0 for the best start in school history. The Cards wrapped up the nonconference schedule with a 1-0 overtime win against No. 9 Vanderbilt on Sunday night.

Emina Ekic, the Co-Offensive ACC Player of the Week, leads the Cardinals on the season with four goals and four assists for 12 points. Brooklynn Rivers and Maisie Whitsett rank second on the team in scoring with three goals each. Junior keeper Gabby Kouzelos leads the team in goal with a 0.16 goals against average.  She owns a 7-0 record along with five shutouts.Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to five NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina enters the match with an overall record of 7-1-0. The Tar Heels lost their first match of the season with a 2-0 loss against Arkansas on Sunday. UNC fell four spots in the poll after the loss and are currently ranked fourth.Â

Brianna Pinto and Bridgette Andrzejewski lead the team in scoring. Pinto has six goals and two assists for 14 points while Andrzejewski has three goals and four assists for 10 points. Claudia Dickey and Marz Josephson split time in goal for the Tar Heels. They own a combined goals against average of 0.50.   Â

Head coach Anson Dorrance is in his 41st season at the helm. He owns a 853-74-40 record with the Tar Heels. Under his guidance, UNC has won 22 national championships.

 The all-time series with North Carolina is tied at 1-1-1. Last season the Cardinals fell to the Tar Heels 5-1 last season. In 2017 the team finished in a scoreless tie at UNC. The first meeting between the two teams in 2015, the Cardinals defeated the Tar Heels 2-1 in overtime at Lynn Stadium.  Â
