Kickoff set for 7:30 p.m., ET in annual Battle of the Bluegrass
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â Following its first road match of the season, the 10th-ranked and unbeaten Louisville men's soccer team returns home to host Kentucky in the annual Battle of the Bluegrass on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra with Jody Demling and Matt Banker on the call, while live scoring is available at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville enters Tuesday's match at 3-0-0 overall following last Friday's 1-0 road triumph at Georgia State. The Cardinals are off to their best start to a season since winning each of the first three matches in 2009, while a win against the Wildcats would mark the team's first 4-0-0 start since 1998. Senior defender Tim Kubel has delivered the game-winning goals in each of the last two matches for Louisville, while redshirt freshman goalkeeper Jake Gelnovatch has allowed just one goal in 270 minutes this season.

Kentucky moved to 3-0-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory at Memphis last Saturday night. Guided by head coach Johan Cedergren, the Wildcats were 11-5-3 overall and 5-3-0 in Conference USA last season. UK dropped its NCAA Championship opener falling to Creighton in the second round in Lexington.Â

The Louisville men's soccer team will have 14 of its 16 regular season matches in 2017 televised on ACC Network Extra, including all eight conference matches. The 14 matches on ACC Network Extra will include one match – Oct. 6 at Virginia Tech – on the ACC's Regional Sports Network. All 10 regular season matches at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium this season will be televised on ACC Network Extra, available on WatchESPN. Additionally, the 2017 ACC Championship title match will be televised by ESPNU.
LOUISVILLE PICKED THIRD IN ACC ATLANTIC DIVISION
The Louisville men's soccer team was tabbed to finish third in the ACC Atlantic Division in 2017 according to a vote of the conference's 12 head coaches. The Cardinals totaled 52 points overall in the ACC voting, while 2016 NCAA College Cup runner-up Wake Forest was chosen as the favorite in the Atlantic Division. North Carolina was selected as the favorite in the Coastal Division and was picked to win the league championship. The Tar Heels were named by five coaches as the team to beat in the ACC this season, while Wake Forest received three votes. Clemson received two votes and Virginia and Notre Dame received one vote each.
Wake Forest received 62 points and eight first place votes as the top choice in the Atlantic Division. Clemson received three first place votes for the division and was picked second with 60 points. Louisville was third with its 52 points and one first place vote, followed by Syracuse (41), Boston College (20) and NC State (17).
North Carolina had 69 points and received nine first place votes as the favorite in the Coastal. Virginia was picked second with 58 points and received two first place votes. Notre Dame was picked third with 51 points, followed by Virginia Tech (31), Duke (28) and Pitt (15).
Last year, an NCAA-record nine ACC teams earned bids to the NCAA Championship, with a record eight teams advancing to the Sweet 16 and five to the Elite Eight. North Carolina and Wake Forest advanced to the College Cup to mark the 16th straight year at least one ACC team has reached that stage.Â
