Women's Soccer Hosts Gardner Webb on Thursday

Cardinals wrap up nonconference schedule against Gardner Webb
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Coming off their 3-2 loss to Purdue, the University of Louisville women's soccer team will host the final non conference game of the year against Gardner Webb on Thursday night. The Cardinals bring a 5-2 overall record into the match.
Freshman Emina Ekic is leading the scoring effort for the Cardinals. Ekic has recorded four goals and one assist for nine points so far this season. Senior Alison Price has scored two goals and two assists for a total of six points on the season.
In goal, redshirt freshman Gabby Kouzelos holds a 1.14 goals against average through seven matches. Kouzelos has registered 15 saves for the Cardinals along with three shutouts.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 18th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING GARDNER WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs bring a 1-6 overall record into Thursday's matchup. They won their first game of the season 2-0 over Eastern Kentucky. Gardner-Webb is coming off a 2-1 loss to Florida Atlantic.
Sophomore midfielder Stina Kleppe leads the team with three points coming off a goal against Maryland and an assist against Eastern Kentucky. Freshman midfielder Jana Braun, sophomore midfielder/forward Ty Snell, and junior forward Samuelle Grove have also added goals for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Junior goalkeeper Keely Brown leads Gardner-Webb in goal with 37 saves and one shutout.
Mike Varga is in his second season as head coach of the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team. Last year, Varga led the Runnin' Bulldogs to an 8-10-2 record and its first conference tournament appearance since the 2011 season.
