Cardinals Visit No. 14 UConn on Friday Night

Kickoff set for 7:30 p.m., ET in Storrs, Conn., between former conference foes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville men's soccer team takes to the road for its first regular season match away from home in 2016 with a visit to No. 14 Connecticut on Friday at 7:30 p.m., ET. ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville opened the season with a home draw against Butler on Aug. 26 and a 2-1 overtime win against Quinnipiac on Aug. 29 at Lynn Stadium. Danny Reynolds connected for the game-winner against the Bobcats, while newcomer Mohamed Thiaw scored his first goal in a UofL kit.
The Cardinals returned eight players with 13 or more starts from last year's team, including the top three goal scorers in sophomore Tate Schmitt (seven goals), senior Daniel Johnson (five goals) and junior Tim Kubel (five goals). Schmitt was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, while Kubel (First Team) and Johnson (Second Team) were tabbed All-ACC selections last season.

UConn enters Friday's match at 2-0-0 on the season after opening 2016 with home wins against Iona and Nebraska-Omaha. Last season, the Huskies were 10-6-6 overall and finished third in the American Athletic Conference. Ranked 14th in this week's NSCAA poll, UConn was picked to finish third in the American by the league's head coaches.

Friday marks the eighth meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Huskies. The first five meetings came as Big East Conference foes, while the sixth meeting in 2013 was as American Conference opponents.
