800 Free Relay crushes school record.
The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team are eighth after the first two events on Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
It is always nice to start the meet with great relay performances," said UofL head coach Arthur Albiero. Â "The 200Medley was just .11 off our school record, but the highlight was our 800FSR breaking our school record by almost 4 seconds. Good momentum going into tomorrow's sessions."
Â
The Louisville 200-medley relay team of Grigory Tarasevich, Carlos Claverie, Josh Quallen and Trevor Carroll partnered to post an NCAA A-cut time of 1:24.01 for silver. For the third straight year, the North Carolina State Wolfpack men took gold in the event, putting up a 1:23.19 that set a new meet and conference record of 1:23.78 set by an entirely different Wolfpack foursome in 2014.
Â
In the men's 800 free relay, the Cards won silver in 6:14.96 put up by Trevor Carroll (1:33.63), Matthias Lindenbauer (1:33.86), Grigory Tarasevich (1:32.39) and Jonathan Zoucha (1:35.08). The Cards shaved 3.5 seconds off their school record, a time that would have scored fourth at NCAAs a year ago and is an A-cut. The event was won by NC State which posted a blistering 6:12.76.
Â
Â
The men's diving events took place last week, running concurrently with the women's swimming and diving events. Those scores will be added into the running team scores as each diving event falls in the traditional meet order. Virginia Tech was third last year behind NC State and Louisville in the team totals. Â

Â
Virginia Tech leads the pack with 341 points followed by Georgia Tech (235), UVA (214), UNC (200), FSU (184), Duke University (178), Pitt (175), Louisville 149, NC State (128), Notre Dame (122), Miami (92), and Boston College (76).
