Louisville Visits Ohio State on Tuesday Night

Kickoff at 7 p.m., ET for the Cardinals and Buckeyes in Columbus
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team takes to the road for just the second time this season and the first against a non-conference foe when they visit Ohio State on Tuesday at 7 p.m., ET.
The game will be the first of three straight road matches for the Cardinals. Live video for the midweek matchup will be streamed through BuckeyeVision at OhioStateBuckeyes.com, while live stats will be provided through GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville, enters Tuesday's match at 4-2-3 overall after playing to a 1-1 draw against No. 22 NC State on Friday night. Leading the way for head coach Ken Lolla's club through nine matches is freshman Tate Schmitt, who has an ACC-leading six goals to go along with two assists, while senior Ben Strong, juniors Andrew Brody and Daniel Johnson and sophomore Tim Kubel have two goals each. The Cardinals have also received goals from Shane Campbell and Danny Reynolds this season.
ABOUT THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State enters the week at 2-4-2 after a 2-0 home win over Dayton on Friday. The Buckeyes are 0-1-1 in the Big Ten after a 1-1 draw against Penn State on Sept. 20. Kyle Culbertson leads OSU with two goals this season. Last season, the Buckeyes were 9-8-5 overall after advancing to the second round of the NCAA championship and finished second in the Big Ten with a 5-3-0 league mark.
SERIES SNAPSHOT
Tuesday will mark the 20th meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Buckeyes, who hold a narrow 8-7-4 lead in a series dating back to 1985. Ohio State earned a 1-0 win last year in its first ever visit to Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. This will be the Cardinals' first visit to Columbus since a scoreless draw in 2013. Overall, Louisville is 1-5-2 all-time in road matches against Ohio State.
LOUISVILLE NOTES AND TRENDS...
• Louisville is playing just its second road match of the season after previously drawing at Syracuse.
• The Cardinals are 4-2-2 at home this season and 11-5-5 overall at Lynn Stadium since its opening prior to the 2014 season.
• Having earned a 1-1-1 record against ranked foes (win over No. 15 Kentucky, loss to No. 8 Stanford, draw against No. 22 NC State) thus far in 2015, the Cardinals are also slated to play at No. 2 UNC, at No. 3 Virginia, No. 8 Wake Forest and at No. 9 Clemson this season.
• Sophomore Tim Kubel leads the Cardinals with nine career goals, while junior Andrew Brody is next with eight. Kubel has scored each of his two goals this season in the last four matches while adding assists in three straight outings.
• Andrew Brody also leads the Cardinals with 51 career starts -- highlighted by 22 last season and 20 as a freshman in 2013.
• Louisville team captains for 2015 are senior Ben Strong, junior Romilio Hernandez and Tim Kubel.
SCHMITT LEADS ACC IN GOALS, POINTS; JAMILLOUX LEADS IN THREE CATEGORIES
After five weeks of action, Louisville freshman Tate Schmitt has emerged as one of the standout attackers in the Atlantic Coast Conference leading the prestigious league goals and points. With six goals in the first nine matches, Schmitt is tied for the top spot in the conference with Wake Forest's Michael Gamble, while his 14 points is one better than the Demon Deacons forward. Schmitt is also tied for the league lead in game-winning goals with three.
Despite starting only the last three matches, junior goalkeeper Theo Jamilloux leads the ACC in goals against average (0.58), save percentage (.857) and saves per game (4.00). The transfer from FAU is 1-0-2 in his three starts this season allowing just two goals in 310:00 minutes.
JOHNSON NAMED ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK ON SEPT. 15
Louisville junior midfielder Daniel Johnson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 marking the first ACC weekly honor for the Cardinals this season. Johnson, who shared the honor with Duke's Jeremy Ebobisse, connected for his first two goals as a Cardinal scoring once in the Sept. 8 win over No. 15 Kentucky and again in the 1-1 draw at Syracuse on Sept. 11. A native of Duluth, Georgia, Johnson scored in the 28th minute of Louisville's 2-0 home triumph over the rival Wildcats. Three nights later, the Maryland transfer delivered his second tally of the week connecting on the game-tying goal at Syracuse inside the final 65 seconds of the first half of the Cardinals' ACC opener.
