
Jackson Named to Prestigious Cape Cod All-Star Team

FALMOUTH, MS - University of Louisville lefty Zach Jackson is one of forty-two of the nation's top collegiate players that have been selected to play in the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, Saturday, July 26 at Guv Fuller Field in Falmouth.
Jackson, a member of the Hyannis Mets, leads the premier wood bat summer league with a 5-0 record, adding a 1.94 ERA in six starts as of July 21st. In 41.2 innings, he has struck out 34 and walked just five, while limiting opponents to a .232 batting average.
Last season as a sophomore with the Cardinals, Jackson was 7-6 with a 4.31 ERA, setting school records for starts(19) and innings pitched(112.2). In his freshman campaign, he earned Freshman All-America honors, as well as 2nd Team All-Conference USA while tying the school record for wins in a single season, going 10-3.
The Pennsylvania native is seventh all-time at U of L in career starts(33), and tied for third with 17 wins in just two seasons. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 50th round following high school.
There are eight wood bat leagues for collegians that have completed one year of eligibility and have one year remaining. The season typically begins the first week of June and wraps up in August.
