Louisville Baseball Announces Enhancements to Pitching Coaching Staff

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program has announced changes within its coaching staff for the 2027 season.
Longtime pitching coach and associate head coach, Roger Williams, will transition into a new role of Pitching Coordinator.
In his new role, Williams will oversee the Louisville pitching staff, while shifting his primary focus to the developmental side.
Head coach Dan McDonnell will add two new members to the staff to work with Williams in pitching coach roles, handling the day-to-day responsibilities.
"Roger Williams established a standard of pitching excellence here at Louisville that rivaled any program in the country," McDonnell said. "The last few years, we have not met that standard and that starts with me as the head coach.
As we evaluate what's next for our program, we are making a commitment to provide Roger with all the necessary resources to get this program back to where it belongs on the mound."
Under Williams' guidance, the Louisville pitching staff has produced 22 All-Americans, seven conference Pitcher of the Year winners, and 41 All-Conference selections.
"For years, this program established a consistent standard of excellence on the mound," Williams added. "Our sole mission is to restore that standard. Forming new partnerships to better serve our pitchers should enhance our ability to achieve this objective."
The Cardinals have had 58 pitchers selected in the MLB Draft during Williams' 20 seasons, and 17 pitchers reach the Major Leagues.
