Louisville Baseball Announces 2026 Captains

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program has announced its four captains that will lead the squad during the 2026 season.
Alex Alicea, Wyatt Danilowicz, Peter Michael and Zion Rose will serve as the captains this spring. Rose has been voted a captain for the second consecutive season.
Alicea is in his third season with the Cardinals. The junior shortstop was a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist as a sophomore and a member of the NCAA Nashville Regional All-Tournament Team. Alicea hit .307 last year and ranked third in the ACC with 34 stolen bases.
Danilowicz will suit up for his fourth season at Louisville this spring. The southpaw led the Cardinals with 28 appearances on the mound last season, finishing with a 2.70 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 33.1 innings.
Michael is set to begin his second year at Louisville after transferring in from Northwestern. The senior made 13 starts last spring, 12 on the weekend, and posted a 4-3 overall record with a 4.83 ERA.
Rose enters his third year with the Cardinals as one of the top players in the country. The junior ranked fourth in the ACC in stolen bases, fifth in RBIs, fifth in triples, seventh in runs, 11th in hits and 12th in total bases as a sophomore and spent his second straight summer with the USA Collegiate National Team.
The quartet will lead the Cardinals into the 2026 season, which gets underway on Friday, Feb. 13 with the first of a three-game series against Michigan State at Jim Patterson Stadium.
