Cardinals Set to Host USC Upstate

Louisville have won each of their first two games of the homestand
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (3-1-0) continues its homestand this week with a Thursday afternoon match on August 28. The Cardinals welcome USC Upstate to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium for the third of six-straight home games for the Cards. Louisville and USC Upstate will square off at 3 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals have won three of their first four matches of the season and the offense has been on full display the last two games. In their two home matches this season, the Cardinals have outscored their opponents 15-2. They scored seven or more goals in back-to-back games for the first time in program history after the wins over Detroit Mercy and Wright State.
In each of their wins last week, the Cardinals set facility records for most assists in a game. Louisville tallied eight in the win over Detroit Mercy and then had 10 in the win over Wright State. Amelia Swinarski had three assists in both wins, tying the Lynn Stadium facility record for most in a single game. Swinarski currently leads the NCAA with six assists on the season.
Senior forward Mackenzie Geigle had a strong performance in both of Louisville's wins last week. She tallied her third career brace against Detroit and then had a goal and two assists over Wright State. She was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week after her three goals and eight points were the most by any ACC player over the past week. She leads the team with three goals and eight points.
Thursday's matchup with USC Upstate will be the first time the two teams have met in program history. Both of Louisville's opponents this week will be the first time the two teams have faced off. After Thursday's match, Louisville will host Coastal Carolina on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
