Cards Offense Shines in 9-0 Victory Over USC Upstate

Nine Goals Sets A Lynn Stadium Record

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville women's soccer team (4-1-0) put on an offensive masterclass, winning 9-0 over USC Upstate (1-3-0) on Thursday afternoon at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The nine goals are a facility record for the Cards. Louisville allowed just three shots as it recorded its third clean sheet of the season.

The Cardinals have scored a remarkable 24 goals in their last three games, outscoring their opponents 24-2 in that span. Seven different Cardinals tallied a goal in this game. Six different Cardinals also recorded an assist.

Amelia Swinarski and AG Gibson both recorded multi-goal games. Swinarski would also add two assists, finishing the night with a team and career-high six points. Mackenzie Geigle recorded her team-leading fourth goal of the season in this game. Emersen Jennings and Swinarski each recorded their first goal of the season. Kiley Peat recorded her first collegiate goal in this game.

Geigle got the scoring started with a goal, assisted by Betsy Huckaby in the 20th minute. A Jennings goal, assisted by Gibson in the 45th minute would be the only other goal for the Cardinals in the first half. Louisville would enter the half up 2-0.

Gibson and Swinarski would score on a pair of penalty kicks in the 52nd and 59th minute. Liza Suydam would add on to the Cardinals lead with a goal in the 60th minute, assisted by both Swinarski and Nicole Jodoin. Gibson would record her second goal of the afternoon in the 64th minute.

Karina Peat, assisted by Swinarski, would score in the 67th minute. Swinarski would get her second goal of the night in the 69th minute, assisted by Jennings. Kiley Peat would cap off the scoring for the game when she added a goal in the 72nd minute, with an assist from Geigle.

The homestand continues for the Cardinals as they close the week out with a Sunday night match at Lynn Stadium. Louisville will host Coastal Carolina on Sunday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
