Louisville Finishes Off Sweep of UIC

The Cardinals won 5-2 in Sunday’s series finale.
Louisville (12-2) has now won five straight after its second sweep in the last three weekends.
Pitching and defense took care of business on Sunday for the Cards, with Peter Michael (2-0) turning in five shutout innings with a career-best eight strikeouts.
Michael struck out two batters in each of the first three innings and worked a perfect fourth before running into trouble in the fifth.
The right-hander had runners on the corners and just one out in a 2-0 game. An unsuccessful safety squeeze bunt attempt left both runners on for the second out and Michael punched out the next batter to keep the Flames off the board and end his outing.
Louisville jumped out in front on Sunday with a run in each of the first two innings. Lucas Moore drew a leadoff walk in the first and came around to score, and Tague Davis hit his fifth home run in the second inning to double the advantage.
UIC (2-13) finally scratched a run across in the seventh to cut the lead in half, but the Cardinals responded with three in the bottom of the frame.
Jake Munroe and Bayram Hot had back-to-back run-scoring singles and Davis sent a flyball to the track in right field for a sacrifice fly to stretch Louisville's lead to four.
The Flames hit a solo homer in the eighth to make it a 5-2 game, but Wyatt Danilowicz took care of the final four outs for his first career save.
Munroe and Hot each went 2-for-4 on the day to lead the way for the Cardinals.
Louisville will now head into a five-game week that begins on Tuesday against Lipscomb at 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
